    Thursday, 06/09/2005...

Mom and Dad showed up at 9:30 AM. We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then dropped Cecily's car off at the Saturn Dealership. John and Cecily had been rear-ended on the 4th coming home from Steven and Kacey's wedding by a drunk driver. Saturn took us to the airport, which saved us about $60 in parking. At least one good thing came out of the accident. We got checked in at the airport with no problems. When we went through security, Cecily's manicure scissors were confiscated. She was quite irritated by this, as they were no more deadly than a toothpick.

The 1 hour flight from KCI to DFW (Dallas Fort-Worth) was pretty smooth. We sat behind an Indian couple with the most adorable little girl. She smiled almost the whole time.

On the 7 hour flight from DFW to Lima, there was a very loud, opinionated man sitting behind John and Cecily. To tune him out, they tried to watch the "Muppet's Wizard of Oz," but there was something wrong with the DVD and they were only able to watch part of it.

John's dad had mentioned something to him about missionaries in Peru. Oddly enough, we were seated next to a group of missionaries on the plane. The teenaged girl was very peppy and her mom had a major candy addiction. They were way too enthusiastic.

Upon our arrival to Lima, we went and found our bags. At first we were looking at the wrong carousel, but then we asked someone and found the right place. Fortunately, we had no problems getting through customs.

We saw our representatives from Peru for Less waiting for us. Christian and Carlos took us to the hotel, Casa Andina Lima. They were very nice people. After checking in, we went to our rooms. The toilet was leaking in John and Cecily's room, but Cecily chose to ignore it since there was only a short time before they had to head back to the airport to fly to Arequipa. She put a couple of towels down in the bathroom and we all took a "nap" for about two hours.
