Where do we start...?
Ok, John was born in St. Louis, MO to Jack and Ginger Ketterer
on Sunday, April 19, 1970 at 2:37am. Yeah, it was a rainy
night, but that didn't stop him from entering this world with a smile on his face. (John also has a younger brother, Paul. When he's not busy meeting rock stars, he's an experienced dealer at one of St. Louis MO's busiest casinos.)
Yadda, yadda, yadda... A few years went by, and now John's is a computer programmer for DST Systems
(and has been there for over 16 years now.. whoa!). That's where it gets interesting...
On February 3, 2001... John, being the devoted employee that he is, was working one particular weekend until 1am, all while being sick as a dog. He heard there was a party to go to, and that there'd be BABES
. Well, John really wanted to meet someone, so what the heck...
Lucky for him, even though he was on the brink of "death", he went, and met the most special person he'd ever meet -- his soul mate. (That's Cecily.)
Cecily was born in Iowa City, IA to Chris and Jim Hopper on Sunday, April 25, 1976 at 1:15am. She's got two brothers -- Jamey (who's also a new daddy) and Steven (recently married to Kacey) -- and is the middle child. (That could explain a lot.)
She grew up in a small town... Iola, Kansas
. Yep, it's your typical small town, and has a couple of interesting "claims to fame". Film comedian and director Buster Keaton was born not far from Iola in Piqua, KS; and there's an annual festival dedicated to him.
Plus, those crazy Iolans did some weird stuff. Check this out...
The boyhood home of this historic dude, General Funsten
, was originally located a few miles outside of the Iola city limits. But, for some reason, certain Iola citizens felt it necessary to uproot it and plop it on the town square (so, you've got all these businesses... and a house). Now, local teenagers can cruise past it in their quest for entertainment on Saturday nights. Neat.
Oh yeah. Back to Cecily... She's completed her Master's Degree in Public Administration from UMKC, and is currently working as the Pre-retirement Counselor for the
Kansas City, MO Public School Retirement System
John, being the drummer for a local rock band (Backwash)
, was able to use this avenue to hook his future bride. Unbeknownst to Cecily (but knownst to the entire crowd at the gig), John was to be the lead singer that evening for an acoustic performance of "their" song, "Hanging by a Moment" by Lifehouse. At the conclusion of the song, John got down on one knee
and asked for Cecily's hand in matrimony...
She said YES....
